PRElude

early childhood music classes

Open to students from Birth - Kindergarten

Mission: We will provide children and/caretakers with a hands-on, meaningful music and movement experience. This class introduces sound patterns, pulse/beat recognition, language retention, kinesthetic awareness and the early foundations of musicianship and literacy.

Loosely based on Gordon Institute for Music Learning (GIML) approach for Early Childhood Music Education Sequencing, children will gain experience with a variety of tonal centers, patterns, and modalities as well as various rhythmic meters. Songs without words help children to strictly listen to the musical aspects of a song while songs with words help to further language acquisition. Movement and play-based activities, as well as the use of manipulatives (scarves, egg shakers, parachutes) will help children gain kinesthetic awareness.

Not only will children and caretakers gain a meaningful musical experience but they will engage in early social interactions and developmentally appropriate educational play.
