APPRENTICE with WCChorus!

The Westchester Children’s Chorus invites music teachers, undergraduate, and graduate music/arts management students and collaborative pianists to apply for our apprenticeship program.

The Westchester Children’s Chorus is a 501c3 non-profit organization. We currently have 5 ensembles (Crescendo, Cantus, Cantabile, Cambiare & Chorale) organized by grade and voice. You can view information about each of our ensembles on our website. Singers audition at one of our 3 auditions held throughout the year. In addition to our choral program, we have an early childhood program called Prelude. Apprentices may choose to be involved with Prelude as well.

Our conducting staff are all NY State Certified, public school music teachers in Westchester county, who can offer an in-depth look into both the world of public music education as well as their work with our auditioned children’s chorus. Our conducting staff is qualified to sign off on observation, internship, apprentice, or community service hours. Our administrative staff has served many roles in both non-profit and professional arts organizations, and has a wealth of experience to share with students interested in arts organizational management and development. In addition, our collaborative pianists serve as top notch accompanists, church musicians and organists and are eager to help develop collaborative piano skills.

Depending on your interests and experience we will build an apprentice opportunity here at the Westchester Children’s Chorus that includes but is not limited to:

  • Rehearsal Observation

  • Score Study

  • Conducting Practice & Technical Study

  • Non-profit Arts Administration

  • Collaborative Piano Work

We recommend further exploring our website and learning more about our organization prior to applying!
